Chamisa Hills Country Club offers a very unique Junior Golf Program.  The Bag Tag Program is geared for both the beginner golfer as well as the advanced player who likes to learn in a group clinic atmosphere to raise his or her game to the next level.  The Bag Tag Program encompasses Instructional Clinics on the driving range as well as on the short game practice facility, along with Play Days, in which the juniors get some hands on instruction with the Golf Professionals on the golf course itself, learning proper etiquette as well as some rules of golf.  The Junior Golf Programs ultimate goals are to teach your children the game of golf in a fun, challenging, structured, environment through organized instruction, play days and competition, with an emphasis on the rules of golf, etiquette, and sportsmanship. 

Mission
Provide a challenging, structured environment for juniors’ ages 5 to 18 through organized instruction, play and competition.  Emphasis will be on rules of the game, etiquette, and sportsmanship.

Ages
Open to juniors’ ages 5 to 18 including anyone who has not yet reached their 19th birthday.

Fee’s
Member Sponsored Junior- $30.00 for the first child in the family to enter and $15.00 per any additional family members signed up in the Bag Tag Program, includes professional instruction and tournaments.

Non-Member Junior- $40.00 for the first child in the family to enter and $20.00 per any additional family members signed up in the Bag Tag Program, includes professional instruction and tournaments.

$10.00 per Instructional Clinic per junior.

One-on-one junior lessons available at $20.00 per hour includes video use and a swing check with the program C Swing.

The more Clinics you attend Juniors the better your golf game will be!!!

In addition to Thursday Clinics we offer Saturday Clinics 10am to 11am

Cost is $10 per Student!

Golf Etiquette

Consideration- Be aware of your surroundings and avoid moving, talking, standing to close or directly behind your fellow competitor while they are addressing or making a stroke.

Safety First- Never walk or stand in front of a player making a stroke.  When taking a practice swing it is the players responsibility to make sure the area is clear. Look behind and in front of yourself before swinging!!!

Bunkers- Before leaving a bunker a player shall rake and smooth all foot prints and holes.

Sportsmanship- Have fun Be a gracious winner and a better loser.  Remember it is a privilege to play golf on this course, please act accordingly.

Searching for a Lost Ball- Players searching for a lost ball (5 min. max.) shall allow other players to play through.  Players searching for a lost ball shall signal for the group behind to pass.

Replace Divots and Repair Ball Marks- A player is required to replace their own divots and ball marks.  A player found not replacing divots or ball marks will lose privileges.  Juniors remember, leave the golf course in better condition than you found it.

Definitions

Addressing the ball - A player has addressed the ball when the club is grounded and a stance taken.  In a hazard a player has addressed the ball when a stance is taken.

Par- The number of strokes the hole is to be played in.

Birdie- One stroke under par.

Bogey- One stroke over par.

Casual Water- Is a temporary accumulation of water on the course and is visible before or after a player has taken a stance.  Casual water is not a water hazard.

Divot- A piece of turf made by a player making a stroke.

Fairway- Closely mown area directly in front of the teeing ground.

Fore- To be yelled by a player who has hit their ball in the direction of other players.  If fore is yelled, turn the opposite direction the sound is coming from and bend over sticking out your rear end and put your head in between your legs. (Keep the head protected)

Ground Under Repair- Is any portion of the course marked by white paint.

Handicap- Is an average of a players scores and allows players of different abilities to compete.

Honor- The right to tee off first and is determined by the score on the previous hole.

Lie- The physical position of the golf ball.

Loose impediments- Are natural objects such as stones, leaves, twigs, branches, and the like, dunk, works, and insects and casts or heaps made by them, provided they are not fixed or growing, are not solidly embedded and do not adhere to the ball.  Sand and loose soil are loose impediments only on the putting green.

Lost Ball- A ball is lost if it is not found within five minutes after the player begins the search.

Match Play- Score is kept by keeping track of the number of holes won or lost.

Medal Play- Score is kept by keeping an aggregate total.

Obstruction- Is anything artificial including benches, man made roads and paths.  Out of bounds stakes are not obstructions.

Out of Bounds- Is ground on which play is out of bounds and is marked by walls, fences, white stakes and railings or a white line clearly marked on the ground.

Provisional Ball- If your ball is lost outside a water hazard or is out of bounds, you may play another ball (known as a provisional ball) before you search for the original, provided you announce your intention to do so.

Pull- A ball that is left of the target.

Push- A ball that is right of the target.

Slice- Ball curves to the right for right-handed players.

Hook- Ball cures to the left for right-handed players.

Stroke- Is any attempt to strike a ball.

Teeing Ground- Is the starting place for the hole to be played and is marked by tee markers.

Through the Green- Is the whole area of the course except, the teeing ground, putting green or hazards.

Water Hazard- Is any sea, lake, pond, river, ditch, surface drainage ditch or other open water course and anything of a similar nature.

A water hazard is defined by yellow stakes or lines.  A lateral water hazard is defined by red stakes or lines.
