It's been a long trip from Blytheville, AR to Rio Rancho, NM for our Tennis Director, Fred Abbott ... but we're sure glad he made the round-a-bout trip.   An accomplished Air Force reconnaissance and rescue pilot for over 20 years; Fred flew missions in Japan, China, Russia, Guam, Viet Nam, and Hawaii before discovering the Land of Enchantment.

During his stint in the Air Force, Fred realized playing and teaching tennis was another of his passions.  He became a member of the PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) where he was certified at the professional level.  Upon retiring from the militay in 1978, he started his professional tennis career teaching and managing a tennis bubble in Clinton, MD. 

In 1981 the blue skies once again beckoned and Fred returned to Hawaii to fly air tours, and fly with an inter-island airline company.  Arriving in Albuquerque in 1988 he eventually made his way to Chamisa Hills as Tennis Director in 1990.
 
Fred is a member of the PTR (Professional Tennis Registry), a Certified P4 Professional Instructor and the driving force behind our popular and growing tennis program.
